An exhibition of silk paintings, by silk artist Noelle Stevenson, will take place at the Chambers Gallery, High Street,Moffat, Dumfriesshire, from 2-30 June 2008.
Noelle Stevenson has been creating original handpainted silk pictures for many years,and has exhibited widely. In this exhibition, which is inspired by images of nature, she demonstrates her ability with the supple medium of silk. In many of the works, she 'goes with the flow', allowing the paint to run into the silk to create innovative landscapes, which capture the 'Spirit of Place'. She gives a modern interpretation to an ancient art form by experimenting with different techniques and media, and there are examples of vivid, textured abstracts in mixed media,
brilliantly coloured decorative works resembling stained glass, and delicately painted minimalist works, using only silk paint and water.
The opening hours are 9.30 am to 5.30 pm (Mon - Sat)and 11 am - 4pm. (Sun) - all works are for sale 'off the wall'
