A new exhibition for a New Year. Ipaggery - ‘The Art of Photography' comes to Kendal.
The Independent Photographers Art Group (IPAg) announce their first exhibition of photography opening at Abbot Hall Art Gallery coffee shop. Kendal 11th January 2010
The photographs display a variety of technical approaches and styles. There will be examples of landscapes, family portraits, still life and other poetic response to the urban and natural environment. What they all have in common is a personal and subjective photographic style.
The exhibition will include landscapes by Graham Whitwham and Jeremy Hall, celebrating the traditions of black and white fine printing, landscape influenced abstracts by Andrew Leavett, colour work by Rob Sara and Dougie Cunningham, Tony Riley's silent witness urban landscapes, exploring surfaces and textures. Dave Wards studioscapes - curious still lifes of found objects, Matthew Mawson's constructions of family photographs layered with memory and Michael Poulter‘s exploration of the age of steam and iron and its enduring legacy.
The exhibition will showcase the work of each member of the group and illustrates the diverse range of approaches to photography practised within the group.
The Independent Photographers Art Group consists of nine photographers based in the South Lakes area with a common interest in artistic, creative photography. IPAg photographers regard photography as an independent art form and this is reflected in the work produced.
The exhibition will run, with two additional changes of changes, until 8th May. All enquiries, please visit the IPAg's website at www.ipag.co.uk or see the Abbot Hall's website at www.abbothall.org.uk
