There are galleries which sell the work of the resident artists as well as many other crafts workers from the North of England and beyond and a two gallery spaces for touring exhibitions, which have regilarly changing programme and associated workshops, talks and events.

On the heritage floor you can learn about the textile industry and the mill’s past and see the original Victorian Dobcross looms, which once produced horse blankets for Queen Victoria and now make travel rugs and throws for sale. A current initiative is the use of the wool of the local Rough Fell sheep to produce floor rugs. There is a small education programme, a shop, free parking and a cafe.

Farfield Mill houses 15 open studio spaces, and currently has a varied list of resident artists including:
